The 7-Point Checklist for B2B SaaS companies to start scaling with Google Ads
Your company needs customers.
And you know that an excellent place to find them is on Google. That is where people are looking for what you have to offer.
To scale successfully, make sure you have these seven things in place:
-
- Product Market Fit: Have you spoken to customers? Do you know what they care about? Do you speak their language? If not, every (expensive) click is a gamble as to whether what your landing page says will resonate. Skew the odds in your favor.
- Search Volume: Do people search for what you offer? If you invented something completely new that people aren’t searching for yet, search marketing is probably not your channel. They might search for the solution for a problem you solve or for competitors, so check that as well. If not: Build awareness first.
- Tracking: Can you track conversions? If you are generating leads: can you track the entire journey from lead to customer and attribute it back to the channel? Take as much of the guesswork out of your marketing as possible. (Spoiler alert: there will always be some left.)
- Landing Pages: Can you create dedicated landing pages for your keyword topics? And make tweaks and edits to them as needed?
- Nurturing emails & follow-ups: If you are generating leads, do you have the next steps in place?
- Budgets: How much you need depends on your search volumes and growth ambitions. But you should keep in mind that it can take 2-6 months to see the results you need. During that time, you will mainly pay for learnings. Are you ready to invest that?
- Bandwidth: Do you have an in-house resource who will manage this channel? If you are looking for an agency or freelancer to run your campaigns, you have to manage them. Especially in B2B, they will need quite a bit of education on your products and market. Do you have time for that?
To give your search marketing the best shot at succeeding, you should get on top of:
-
-
- Product Market Fit
- Search volume
- Web Tracking & CRM
- Landing page creation
- Nurturing content & sales follow up
- Sufficient budgets that include “learning” budget
- Bandwidth to manage campaigns in-house or external resources
